Accessibility Statement

Greystoke Castle is a Grade II* listed historic building, and while we are committed to welcoming as many visitors as possible, the age and historic nature of the castle mean that accessibility is limited in some areas.

Grounds

• Free parking is available on site.
• Access to the castle and gardens is via gravel paths, grassed areas and uneven historic surfaces.
• Some routes include slopes and may become muddy or uneven during wet weather.
• Visitors with limited mobility, wheelchairs or mobility scooters may find certain areas difficult to access.
• Seating is available in various locations around the grounds.

Castle

Please be aware that access within the castle is limited due to its historic design.

• The castle has numerous staircases and steps throughout.
• There is no lift within the building.
• Many rooms can only be reached by climbing stairs.
• Floors may be uneven, and some doorways have raised thresholds.
• The castle is not fully wheelchair accessible, and access for wheelchair users is limited to
  certain ground floor areas.
• Visitors with reduced mobility may not be able to access all areas included on guided tours.

Toilets

• Standard toilet facilities are available.
• Please note that there is currently no accessible disabled toilet on site.
